Description
This
morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to
do. This afternoon, her planet was invaded.
The year
is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little
more than a speck at the edge of the universe. Now with enemy fire raining down
on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to
evacuate on three ships (Alexander, Hypatia and Copernicus) with a hostile warship in hot pursuit.
But
their problems are just getting started. A plague has broken out and is
mutating with terrifying results; the fleet’s AI may actually be their enemy;
and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a web
of data to find the truth, it’s clear the only person who can help her is the
ex-boyfriend she swore she’d never speak to again.
The
Characters
Kady
Grant is your typical teenager – except she´s not. She´s clever, works very
well with computers. She stranded on Hypatia
and starts hacking into the other ships when she needs to know what´s going on.
Ezra Mason on the other hand has to work with the military once he´s on Alexander. You don´t really get to know
that much about the characters, as the book is written in form of emails,
files, medical reports, maps, interviews and such.
My
Opinion
This
book is written in a very unique way. Yet it was no challenge to get into it,
because it´s simply marvellous. You may not get to know the characters like you
normally would, but you get to know them from a different side: from the
viewpoint of other people, which is something new and genius.
The
story itself is exciting and ends with a good ol’-fashioned cliffhanger and
mind-f*** concerning a person (not really a spoiler, I hope). I immediately
ordered the second book (Gemina) and will read it as soon as it arrives :)
The
story has a few plot twists and other surprising (good) elements. My friend
read the book before me and she is as wtf
and omg as me – we approve xD
If you
like Dystopian/Sci-Fi you gotta read this one!
