Description
The
sci-fi saga that began with the breakout bestseller Illuminae continues on
board the Jump Station Heimdall, where two new characters will confront the
next wave of the BeiTech assault.
When an
elite BeiTech strike team invades the station, Hanna and Nik are thrown
together to defend their home. But alien predators are picking off the station
residents one by one, and a malfunction in the station's wormhole means the
space-time continuum might be ripped in two before dinner. Soon Hanna and Nik
aren’t just fighting for their own survival; the fate of everyone on the
Hypatia—and possibly the known universe—is in their hands.
But
relax. They've totally got this. They hope.
The
Characters
Hanna is
the station captain’s daughter; your typical annoying rich girl. She has to be
braver than ever, live through betrayals and save an entire universe.
Nik is
the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. He is basically a drug
dealer. A space drug dealer – super cool, right? He is a bad boy who has to do
good.
My
Opinion
Once
again told through emails, IMs, classified files, transcripts, and schematics, “Gemina”
is as thrilling as “Illuminae”, although I have to say that the first book was
slightly more exciting in my opinion. Turns out, I find infested humans a lot
creepier than snake like aliens with many heads and endless rows of teeth.
We once
again get to know the characters from the viewpoint of others. This unique way
of story-telling also allows for quite a few plot twists to happen, which will
blow your minds! (they most certainly blew mine).
Sadly
enough, the third and last part – “Obsidio” – won´t be published until March. I
will buy it asap – this story got me hooked like rarely another.
